Massage Therapy

Why Massage?

At Impact Physio & Sport Clinic, massage is considered part of integrative medicine -- and when used with complementary treatments, it can be a critical path to bringing your body back to a state of health. It is a standard and successful treatment for a wide array of medical conditions.

Massage used to be a high-end luxury, but nowadays, doctors and clinicians agree that the benefits of massage take it from a luxury to an essential. Today massage is a widely practiced technique with lasting benefits to your health and well-being.

The Benefits of Massage Include the Improvement of:

  • Joint and muscle pain
  • Injury
  • Circulation and skin health
  • Flexibility and mobility
  • Headaches
  • Sleep and fatigue
  • Anxiety and stress

At our Beaumont massage clinic, our therapists use their years of physiology experience to combine traditional and modern massage techniques. By combining this practice with other therapies, our massage will give you a holistic approach to your healing.

What is Massage?

Massage is the general term for a hands-on technique of pressing and manipulating skin, muscles and ligaments. While that may sound simple, our massage therapy in Beaumont, AB, has highly trained specialists who know how to manipulate your body in an effective way to relieve your specific physical ailments.

At the beginning of a session, your therapist will ask you about symptoms, medical history and your physical goals for the massage. They will explain the type of techniques they will use and discuss any other considerations you need to know.

After your initial conversation, you will then either sit in a chair or lay on a table. As the session goes on, your trained therapist will evaluate through touch any areas that are too painful for pressure or tense areas that need more physical attention. A massage may last from 10 to 90 minutes, depending on the goals you and your therapist have laid out.

During your massage, you should generally feel calm and relaxed, although in some cases, your massage therapist may intentionally work on areas of discomfort and pain. Feel free to communicate your needs at any point. If the pressure is too hard or too much, or if something doesn’t feel like healthy pain, make sure to inform your therapist.

Massage is a type of treatment that is most beneficial when used regularly. It can help address chronic or long term healing, or just general well-being and relaxation. It is a treatment that is beneficial for all types of situations, whether severe or mild and can be used at any time to help promote a better quality of life.

Types of Massage

At our Beaumont physiotherapy and sports injury clinic, we provide leading massage therapy in Beaumont AB. Our goal is to work with you and your body to create lasting healing. We will focus on your physical goals and needs by using one or both of our massage types.

Relaxation Massage

The goal of this form of massage is to relax the entire body through various techniques such as long, flowing strokes using light to medium pressure. Your session will address such issues as stress, tension and mild to moderate muscle discomfort. Clients often have a very gentle experience with this type of massage. It is usually recommended for first-time massage clients and is excellent for improving circulation and flexibility while easing tension.

Deep Tissue Massage

Deep tissue massage gets into the connective tissue of the body, rather than just the surface muscles. It is the type of massage used when addressing injury, disability, or repetitive stress issues.

Deep tissue employs a variety of techniques to deeply penetrate the muscles and fascia, loosening them and releasing tension. Many clients have a more intense experience with a deep tissue massage, but also feel that it is more beneficial because it addresses and can relieve deep-seated muscle pains. Like other types of massage, it is most useful when undertaken regularly. By working together, the therapist and client can correct long term problems, relax the body and prevent injury.
